    Do All Jamaicans Smoke Marijuana?

Visions of sunny beaches, the blue-green sea, palm trees and gorgeous sunsets come to mind for many of us when we think of Jamaica. For some, the first images are those of pot-smoking men on the street corners. Believing that…

    Jamaica and Organic Farming

Jamaican at Heart, Expat life in Jamaica, Valerie Jarvis

Hello!  Welcome to Jamaican at Heart. My name is Valerie and I’m happy to meet you!

I spent my life moving around as an Army brat and finally settled in New Hampshire in 1994. I raised my 10 children there, all grown and gone now.

For 22 years, I raised dairy goats and was a professional goat cheese producer.

Now retired from farming, I find myself making a new home for myself and my husband  in Jamaica.

Falling in love with Jamaica was unexpected but I’m certainly enjoying it. This country and her people stole my heart like nothing I’ve experienced in my travels before.

Please follow along as I trip and skip through a myriad of experiences while integrating into Jamaican culture and lifestyle.  I can guarantee that there will never be a dull moment.
